The Parish of Ascension Building Department is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the adopted construction codes. The office processes multiple types of construction permit applications, conducts plans reviews of construction plans, and schedules and performs subsequent field inspections to verify compliance with the local and State building safety standards. The process of building permits and inspections provides the citizens of Ascension Parish with a safe built environment in their homes, schools, churches, shops, and places of work and business. Our office is committed to protecting public safety, welfare, and the quality of life in Ascension Parish. 
*The Ascension Parish Building department has now started accepting plans, applications and payments online with the hope of providing better customer service. This is the same program we have been using for the last 7 years and the same one you use for scheduling inspections online. We are asking that everyone, who can, try to use the system. It will allow us to track our progress in real time and have a better way for the customer to be informed and updated. If you choose to come into the office we ask that you bring all your plans in digitally (CD, Jump Drive, ETC). If you still prefer to bring in paper plans we will scan them into our system and return them right back to you.
 We also are asking that any of the files you need to get to us be sent on the customer portal, if possible, through MyGovernmentOnline.org instead of email or fax. Using the program for this feature allows anyone from our staff to access the document and make sure it is accepted in a timely manner.

 *Beginning December 1,2021,The method of payment for building permits, copies of files, plan review, etc is by Credit Cards only.  No personal checks or cash are accepted.

The Building Department issues building and occupancy permits to move, build/construct,  remodel or renovate buildings and/or mobile homes in Ascension Parish.

NOTICE:
ALL CONTRACTORS WHO DO WORK IN THE FOUR MAJOR CRAFTS MUST BE LICENSED BY THE  STATE OF LOUISIANA AND THE ASCENSION PARISH BUILDING DEPARTMENT
(The four major crafts are:  Building, Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing)
